Target Information
Mouse Histone Deacetylase 2 (Hdac2) is a key enzyme involved in chromatin remodeling and gene regulation. It removes acetyl groups from histones, tightening chromatin structure and repressing transcription. In mouse oocytes, Hdac2 is crucial for chromosome segregation and kinetochore function via H4K16 deacetylation during maturation. Hdac2 also regulates global DNA methylation and imprinting marks by interacting with DNMT3A2. In erythropoiesis, Hdac2 is essential for chromatin condensation and enucleation in mouse fetal erythroblasts. These functions highlight Hdac2's role in developmental processes and cellular differentiation.
