Target Information
Mouse Heme Oxygenase 1 (Hmox1) is a critical enzyme involved in heme metabolism, degrading heme into carbon monoxide, iron, and biliverdin, which is further converted to bilirubin. It is expressed at low levels in various tissues but is inducible under stress conditions such as oxidative stress and inflammation. Hmox1 plays a pivotal role in cellular protection against oxidative damage and in the regulation of iron homeostasis. It is also implicated in various diseases, including cancer, neurodegenerative disorders, and cardiovascular diseases.
