Target Information
Mouse Growth/Differentiation Factor 3 (Gdf3) is a member of the TGF-β superfamily, playing crucial roles in embryonic development, adipose tissue homeostasis, and immune regulation. It is expressed in various tissues, including embryonic skeletal tissue, adult bone marrow, spleen, and fat. Gdf3 regulates embryonic development by signaling through ALK4/7 and is involved in the TGF-β/Smad pathway. In adipose tissue, Gdf3 interacts with insulin and ALK7 to regulate fat accumulation and energy balance. It also promotes muscle regeneration by enhancing myoblast fusion. In sepsis-induced acute lung injury, Gdf3 administration improves cardiac function and reduces mortality by suppressing macrophage pyroptosis. These diverse functions highlight Gdf3's importance in development, metabolism, and immune response.
