Target Information
Mouse Growth/Differentiation Factor 15 (Gdf15) is a cytokine involved in regulating energy metabolism and appetite. It is produced in response to stress, inflammation, and tissue injury. Gdf15 acts through its receptor GFRAL in the brain to reduce food intake and increase energy expenditure, protecting against obesity. In mouse models, Gdf15 is upregulated in conditions like liver injury and atherosclerosis, where it reduces inflammation and fibrosis. It also plays a role in immunoregulation, promoting regulatory T-cell (Treg) formation and function, which helps suppress excessive immune responses.
