Target Information
Mouse Glypican-4 (Gpc4) is a member of the glypican family of heparan sulfate proteoglycans, which are anchored to the cell membrane via a glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI) anchor. Gpc4 plays a crucial role in various developmental processes, including cell migration, axon guidance, and synapse formation. It is highly expressed in the brain, particularly in the hippocampus, and is involved in the regulation of synaptic plasticity and cognitive function. In mouse models, Gpc4 has been shown to interact with various signaling pathways, such as the InsR/AKT/FoxO1 pathway, influencing metabolic processes and energy homeostasis. Additionally, Gpc4 is implicated in immune responses and inflammation, with its expression being regulated by cytokines and NF-kB signaling. Abnormal expression of Gpc4 has been associated with several diseases, including cancer, cardiovascular diseases, and neurodegenerative disorders.
