Target Information
Mouse Galectin-9 (LGALS9) is a lectin expressed in various cell types, involved in immune regulation, cell adhesion, and signaling. In mouse models, LGALS9 is studied for its roles in immune responses, inflammatory diseases, and tumor immune evasion. LGALS9 interacts with cell surface receptors like TIM-3 and CD44 to modulate T cell function and survival. Research indicates that LGALS9 promotes oligodendrocyte precursor cell differentiation and remyelination in ischemic stroke models, enhancing neurological recovery. Moreover, LGALS9 boosts CD8⁺ T cell antitumor activity in the tumor microenvironment by binding to TIM-3 and inhibits tumor cell apoptosis. In head and neck squamous cell carcinoma, LGALS9 expression correlates with tumor immune evasion and poor prognosis. Thus, LGALS9 is a potential therapeutic target for developing immunotherapies and drugs for various diseases.
