Target Information
Mouse Fibroblast Growth Factor Receptor-Like 1 (Fgfrl1) is a unique member of the fibroblast growth factor receptor (FGFR) family. Unlike typical FGFRs, Fgfrl1 lacks an intracellular tyrosine kinase domain and instead has a short intracellular tail. It binds FGF ligands and heparin with high affinity, exerting negative effects on cell proliferation but promoting cell differentiation. In mice, targeted deletion of the Fgfrl1 gene results in perinatal lethality due to diaphragm defects and bilateral kidney agenesis, highlighting its crucial role in diaphragm and kidney development. Additionally, Fgfrl1 is implicated in bone formation, as human mutations in this gene cause craniosynostosis.
