Target Information

Mouse Carbonic Anhydrase 9 (Ca9) is a transmembrane enzyme crucial for maintaining acid-base balance and adapting to hypoxic conditions. It catalyzes the reversible hydration of carbon dioxide to bicarbonate and protons, playing a key role in pH regulation across cell membranes. Ca9 is highly expressed in the stomach, where it protects gastric epithelia from acid load. In mouse models, Ca9 deficiency leads to gastric mucosa hyperplasia, impaired pH regulation, and chronic inflammation.
