Target Information
Mouse C-X-C Motif Chemokine 14 (Cxcl14) is a highly conserved chemokine that plays a crucial role in immune cell infiltration, cell mobilization, and dendritic cell maturation. In the context of cancer, Cxcl14 has been shown to have both tumor-promoting and tumor-inhibiting effects, depending on its cellular source. For instance, Cxcl14 derived from fibroblasts can promote tumor development, while Cxcl14 from epithelial cells can inhibit tumor progression. In triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC), low levels of Cxcl14 are associated with poor survival rates, and overexpression of Cxcl14 in TNBC models significantly reduces tumor weights and inhibits lung metastasis. This effect is mediated through the alteration of immune profiles in the tumor microenvironment, including decreased macrophages and regulatory T cells, and increased cytotoxic T cells. In breast cancer, high levels of Cxcl14 in the tumor stroma correlate with improved patient survival, particularly in estrogen receptor (ER) negative, triple-negative, and basal-like subtypes. These findings suggest that Cxcl14 could serve as a potential biomarker for prognosis and a therapeutic target in cancer.
