Target Information
Mouse C-X-C Chemokine Receptor Type 4 (Cxcr4) is a G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) that plays a crucial role in various physiological processes, including cell migration, hematopoiesis, and immune responses. Cxcr4 is activated by the chemokine ligand CXCL12 (also known as stromal cell-derived factor 1, SDF-1) and primarily signals through the Gi protein, regulating cell migration in processes such as hematopoiesis, neovascularization, and angiogenesis. Abnormal expression or mutations in Cxcr4 have been implicated in various diseases, including WHIM syndrome, hematologic cancers, and leukopenia. Additionally, Cxcr4 serves as a coreceptor for X4-tropic human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) strains, making it a significant target for antiviral therapies.
