Target Information
Mouse Beta-Galactosidase (Glb1) is an enzyme that catalyzes the hydrolysis of beta-galactosidic linkages in glycolipids and glycoproteins. It plays a significant role in the degradation of glycosphingolipids and glycoproteins in lysosomes. Deficiencies in Glb1 are associated with GM1 gangliosidosis and Morquio B disease, which are lysosomal storage disorders. Research on Glb1 has focused on understanding its role in these diseases and developing therapeutic strategies for their treatment.
