Target Information
Mouse Basement Membrane-Specific Heparan Sulfate Proteoglycan Core Protein (Hspg2), also known as perlecan, is a key component of the basement membrane. It interacts with various extracellular matrix proteins like collagen IV and laminin, and cell surface receptors such as integrins. Perlecan is crucial for tissue development, cell signaling, and maintaining the integrity of basement membranes. In mice, perlecan deficiency leads to embryonic lethality due to chondrodysplasia. It also plays roles in angiogenesis and growth factor signaling, particularly through its interactions with fibroblast growth factors (FGFs).
