Target Information
Mouse Apolipoprotein C-IV (Apoc4) is a member of the apolipoprotein C family, primarily associated with very low-density lipoproteins (VLDL) and high-density lipoproteins (HDL). It is involved in lipid metabolism and is thought to influence plasma triglyceride levels. Overexpression of Apoc4 in mice leads to elevated VLDL levels, likely due to displacement of ApoE, which reduces the hepatic clearance of VLDL rather than through reduced lipase activity. Genetic polymorphisms in Apoc4 have been associated with variations in plasma triglyceride levels and may contribute to the risk of coronary artery disease. Further studies are needed to elucidate its precise role in lipid metabolism and potential involvement in metabolic disorders.
