Target Information
Mouse Apolipoprotein A-I (Apoa1) is a key component of high-density lipoproteins (HDLs) and plays a central role in cholesterol transport and reverse cholesterol transport. It is synthesized primarily in the liver and small intestine and is involved in various physiological processes. Apoa1 exhibits anti-inflammatory properties by modulating lipid rafts and downregulating immune responses, including inhibiting neutrophil activation and TLR signaling in macrophages. It also suppresses dendritic cell maturation and Th1/Th17 cell reactivity, reducing inflammation in conditions like colitis. In cancer, Apoa1 has been shown to inhibit tumor growth and metastasis in animal models, including melanoma, ovarian carcinoma, and colorectal adenocarcinoma, by modulating the tumor immune microenvironment and reducing angiogenesis. Additionally, Apoa1 deficiency is associated with increased tumor burden and inflammation. However, dysfunctional or oxidized Apoa1 can promote cancer progression. Apoa1 is also linked to diseases such as amyloidosis, where its deposition in tissues causes organ damage.
