Mouse Aminoacyl tRNA Synthase Complex-Interacting Multifunctional Protein 1 (Aimp1), also known as EMAP II, is a multifunctional protein involved in various biological processes. It is a subunit of the multi-tRNA synthetase complex (MSC) and modulates the aminoacylation activity of tRNA synthetases. In cancer, Aimp1 exhibits both tumor-suppressive and tumor-promoting roles. It can inhibit tumor growth by activating natural killer (NK) cells and enhancing Th1 polarization, while also promoting tumor progression in certain contexts. Aimp1 is involved in immune regulation, where it activates MAPK and NF-κB pathways, inducing cytokine and chemokine expression, and plays a role in inflammation and atherosclerosis. Additionally, Aimp1 is implicated in neurological diseases, with mutations causing neurodegenerative phenotypes and intellectual disability. It interacts with neurofilament-light subunit (NF-L) and regulates NF phosphorylation, affecting axon maintenance. Aimp1 also has roles in angiogenesis, wound healing, and virus infection, making it a potential therapeutic target in various diseases.

User Note
