Target Information
Mouse Amine Oxidase [flavin-containing] A (Maoa) is a critical enzyme involved in the oxidative deamination of monoamine neurotransmitters, such as serotonin, norepinephrine, and dopamine. Located in the mitochondrial outer membrane, Maoa plays a crucial role in regulating neurotransmitter levels and maintaining synaptic homeostasis. In mouse models, Maoa deficiency leads to elevated levels of monoamine neurotransmitters, resulting in behavioral and emotional changes, such as increased aggression and anxiety.
