Target Information
Mouse All-Trans-Retinol Dehydrogenase [NAD(+)] ADH7 (Adh7) is an enzyme involved in the metabolism of retinoids. It catalyzes the oxidation of all-trans-retinol to all-trans-retinal, a key step in the conversion of vitamin A to its active form. Adh7 is highly expressed in the liver and small intestine, where it plays a crucial role in the regulation of retinoid homeostasis. In these tissues, Adh7 helps maintain the balance of retinoids, which are essential for vision, growth, and immune function. In mouse models, Adh7 deficiency leads to disrupted retinoid metabolism and impaired visual function.
