Target Information
Mouse Advanced Glycosylation End Product-Specific Receptor (Ager) is a multifunctional cell surface receptor involved in various physiological and pathological processes. It interacts with multiple ligands, including advanced glycation end products (AGEs), S100 proteins, HMGB1, and amyloid-beta, and plays roles in inflammation, immunity, and tissue repair. Ager is highly expressed in the lungs and is implicated in diseases such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and pulmonary fibrosis. In cancer, Ager is overexpressed and contributes to tumor progression and drug resistance. Recent studies show that Ager-dependent macropinocytosis in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) enhances resistance to KRAS-G12D-targeted therapy by promoting amino acid synthesis and antioxidant production. Ager is also involved in neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer's and is associated with chronic inflammation and metabolic disorders. It serves as a potential therapeutic target in cancer, inflammatory, and neurodegenerative diseases.
