Target Information
Mouse Actin, Alpha Skeletal Muscle (ACTA1) is a major actin isoform in adult skeletal muscle, forming the core of the thin filament of the sarcomere. It plays a crucial role in muscle contraction and movement. ACTA1 is also involved in skeletal muscle fiber development and is essential for normal muscle function. In research, ACTA1 is used to study various aspects of muscle biology, including muscle contraction mechanisms, muscle development, and muscle-related diseases. ACTA1-deficient mice exhibit growth retardation, muscle weakness, and other abnormal phenotypes, highlighting its importance in muscle function. Additionally, ACTA1 is used as a marker in studies of congenital myopathies and other muscle disorders.
