Target Information
The M1R protein is a highly conserved, myristylated envelope protein of the Mature Virion (MV), homologous to the Vaccinia virus L1R protein. It plays a fundamental role in viral entry and membrane fusion by interacting with the entry fusion complex (EFC). M1R is essential for viral infectivity and morphogenesis. Due to its presence on the virion surface and high sequence conservation across Orthopoxviruses, it is a primary target for potent neutralizing antibodies and a cornerstone antigen in multi-component vaccine development.
