Target Information
D6L is a secreted virulence factor that functions as a high-affinity decoy receptor for host interleukin-18 (IL-18).1 By mimicking the structure of human IL-18BP, it binds to and neutralizes IL-18 before it can trigger its cognate receptor.2 This action effectively inhibits the production of interferon-gamma (IFN-gamma) and suppresses the activation of NK cells and Th1 lymphocytes. Consequently, D6L plays a vital role in subverting the host's inflammatory response and promoting viral persistence during infection.
