Target Information
F3L is a key immune evasion protein and a homolog of the Vaccinia virus E3L. It contains a conserved C-terminal double-stranded RNA-binding domain (dsRBD) that sequesters viral dsRNA, preventing its detection by host pathogen-sensing receptors like PKR and RIG-I. By disrupting these pathways, F3L effectively inhibits the production of Type I interferons and suppresses host cell apoptosis. This dual-action mechanism allows the virus to circumvent the innate antiviral response, making F3L a primary target for developing small-molecule inhibitors.
