Target Information

Blo t 1 is a major 25 kDa cysteine protease allergen derived from the tropical storage mite, Blomia tropicalis. Similar to its Dermatophagoides counterparts, it is found in high concentrations in mite fecal pellets. It exhibits proteolytic activity that disrupts the airway epithelial barrier, facilitating allergen sensitization. While it shares structural homology with Der p 1, Blo t 1 possesses unique epitopes, making it a critical component for specific molecular diagnosis and immunotherapy in tropical regions where B. tropicalis is endemic.
