Target Information

NP is the most abundant structural protein in the Marburgvirus virion and serves as the primary component of the nucleocapsid. It binds directly to the viral genomic RNA to form a helical ribonucleoprotein (RNP) complex, protecting the genome from host RNases. NP acts as an essential template for transcription and replication by the viral polymerase. Furthermore, its C-terminal domain is crucial for interacting with other viral proteins, such as VP35 and VP24, to drive the assembly of the viral core.
