Target Information

GP1 is the surface-exposed subunit of the Marburgvirus spike glycoprotein, responsible for host cell attachment. It contains the critical Receptor-Binding Domain (RBD) that targets Niemann-Pick C1 (NPC1) within host endosomes. GP1 is heavily glycosylated with N-linked and O-linked glycans, forming a "glycan shield" that protects the virus from immune neutralization. Its primary role is to tether the virion to the cell surface and guide the virus into the endocytic pathway for subsequent membrane fusion.
