Target Information

NS3 is a multifunctional protein essential for the JEV life cycle, possessing serine protease, helicase, and NTPase activities. Its N-terminal domain, when complexed with the NS2B cofactor, forms the active protease responsible for cleaving the viral polyprotein into functional units. The C-terminal domain functions as an ATP-dependent RNA helicase, unwinding dsRNA intermediates during genome replication. Due to its indispensable role in viral processing and replication, NS3 is a primary candidate for high-throughput screening of small-molecule inhibitors.
