Target Information
Hemagglutinin (HA) is the major surface glycoprotein of the Influenza A virus (H13N8), primarily found in shorebirds and gulls. As a Class I fusion protein, H13 HA mediates viral entry by specifically binding to avian-type alpha 2,3-linked sialic acid receptors. It undergoes a critical pH-dependent conformational change in the endosome to trigger membrane fusion. Due to its unique host range and role as the primary target for neutralizing antibodies, H13 HA is a significant marker for zoonotic surveillance and vaccine research.
