Target Information

Infectious Bursal Disease Virus (IBDV) is a non-enveloped, double-stranded RNA virus belonging to the Birnaviridae family that targets immature B-lymphocytes in the bursa of Fabricius, causing severe immunosuppression in young chickens. The viral capsid is primarily composed of the structural protein VP2, which forms the outer surface projections. VP2 contains the major neutralizing epitopes and hypervariable regions responsible for antigenic variation, making it the premier target for diagnostic assays, serotyping, and recombinant vaccine development.
