Target Information
Guinea pig Eotaxin (CCL11) is a potent eosinophil chemoattractant, originally purified from guinea pig bronchoalveolar lavage fluid. It acts primarily through the CCR3 receptor, exhibiting specific chemotactic activity for eosinophils but not for monocytes or neutrophils. In guinea pigs, Eotaxin expression at both gene and protein levels is significantly upregulated following allergen challenge, particularly in airway epithelial cells and alveolar macrophages. Studies have shown that Eotaxin plays a critical role in allergic responses, with its increased expression closely associated with eosinophil infiltration and activation. Additionally, Eotaxin is involved in regulating inflammatory responses, expressed in various tissues, and induced in endothelial cells stimulated by IFN-γ.
