Target Information
The feline thyrotropin receptor (TSHR) is a G protein-coupled receptor located on the surface of thyroid follicular epithelial cells. It binds to thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) to activate intracellular signaling pathways, promoting the synthesis and secretion of thyroid hormones (T3/T4). In feline hyperthyroidism (FHT), abnormal activation or mutations in TSHR may lead to excessive thyroid hormone secretion. TSHR also plays a role in thyroid cell proliferation and differentiation, which is essential for normal thyroid development and function.
