Target Information

Feline SAA is a major positive acute-phase protein, primarily synthesized by the liver in response to inflammatory stimuli like infections, trauma, and certain cancers. Its concentration in the blood can increase dramatically and rapidly-up to 100-fold-within 24-48 hours of an inflammatory event. This makes SAA a sensitive and valuable biomarker for detecting and monitoring the presence, severity, and response to treatment of various inflammatory conditions in cats, even before clinical signs are apparent.
