Target Information

VP1 is a major structural component of the Feline Panleukopenia Virus (FPV) icosahedral capsid. It is generated through alternative splicing of the viral mRNA, resulting in a protein that shares a sequence with VP2 but contains an additional N-terminal "VP1-unique" (VP1u) domain. This domain possesses phospholipase A2 (PLA2) activity, which is critical for facilitating viral escape from the endosome and nuclear entry during infection. VP1 is a primary target for neutralizing antibodies and vaccine development.
