Target Information
Feline Panleukopenia Virus (FPV) is a small, non-enveloped, single-stranded DNA virus belonging to the genus Protoparvovirus within the family Parvoviridae. Highly contagious and environmentally resilient, it targets rapidly dividing host cells in the bone marrow, lymphoid tissues, and intestinal crypt epithelium of felids. This infection results in profound leukopenia (panleukopenia) and severe hemorrhagic enteritis. The major capsid protein, VP2, contains the primary neutralizing epitopes and host-range determinants, serving as the core target for diagnostic antigen tests and protective vaccines.
