Target Information
Feline interleukin-15 (IL15) is a multifunctional cytokine that plays a significant role in both innate and adaptive immune responses in cats. It is critical for the development, homeostasis, and activation of natural killer (NK) cells, as well as the proliferation and maintenance of memory CD8+ T cells. IL15 stimulates T-cell proliferation and is involved in NK differentiation, cytotoxicity, and cytokine production. It also induces the expression of IL8 from macrophages and activates neutrophils, contributing to several aspects of innate immunity. IL15 is particularly important for the induction and maintenance of CD8+ T cell memory, which is vital for immune defense against intracellular pathogens.
