Target Information

OmpA is one of the most abundant and highly conserved proteins in the E. coli outer membrane. It consists of an eight-stranded beta-barrel transmembrane domain and a C-terminal periplasmic domain. OmpA plays a vital role in maintaining structural integrity by anchoring the outer membrane to the underlying peptidoglycan layer. It also serves as a multifaceted virulence factor, acting as a receptor for various bacteriophages and colicins, while facilitating bacterial adhesion, invasion of host cells, and resistance to serum bactericidal activity.
