Target Information

Superoxide is produced as a by-product of oxygen metabolism. Superoxide Dismutase is encoded by the SOD gene in horses. It is a cytosolic enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of the free radical superoxide to O2 and H2O2 in eukaryotic cells. It is a key component of antioxidant defense mechanisms. SOD levels are associated with various health conditions, including arthritis, cancer, and skin health.
