Target Information
In horses, the APOC2 gene encodes apolipoprotein C2, which is released into the bloodstream, where it becomes part of very low-density lipoproteins and chylomicrons. This particular protein plays a key role in activating lipoprotein lipase within capillaries. This activation leads to the breakdown of triglycerides, consequently releasing free fatty acids and glycerols that can be utilized by cells for various purposes.
