Target Information
Equine Apolipoprotein A-I (APOA1) is a major protein component of high-density lipoprotein (HDL) in horses. It plays a crucial role in lipid metabolism, specifically in the reverse transport of cholesterol from tissues to the liver for excretion. APOA1 is essential for HDL formation and helps stabilize anti-atherogenic HDL particles in the circulation. Additionally, it has been shown to have anti-diabetic properties by enhancing insulin-dependent glucose uptake in muscle cells through the activation of the PI3K/Akt signaling pathway. In equine research, APOA1 is used to study lipid metabolism, insulin sensitivity, and the potential development of therapies for metabolic disorders.
