Target Information
Antigen B (AgB) is a major thermostable lipoprotein secreted by the larval stage (metacestode) of Echinococcus species, primarily Echinococcus granulosus. Composed of oligomeric 8-kDa subunits (EgAgB1-EgAgB5), it belongs to the hydrophobic ligand-binding protein family, functioning in host lipid harvesting and immunomodulation by inhibiting neutrophil recruitment. Due to its high immunogenicity and abundance in hydatid cyst fluid, AgB serves as a gold-standard diagnostic marker for human cystic echinococcosis (hydatid disease) in serological assays.
