Target Information
CSFV E2 is the most prominent surface glycoprotein of Classical Swine Fever Virus and serves as the primary target for neutralizing antibodies. It is a Type I transmembrane protein that forms homodimers or heterodimers with the E1 protein to facilitate viral attachment and membrane fusion with host cells. As the most immunogenic protein in the CSFV proteome, E2 is the gold standard target for developing recombinant subunit vaccines and diagnostic assays to differentiate infected from vaccinated animals (DIVA).
