Target Information
Chicken Urokinase-type plasminogen activator (PLAU) is a serine protease that primarily functions to convert plasminogen into plasmin, facilitating the degradation of the extracellular matrix to aid cell migration and tissue remodeling. In chickens, PLAU is involved in the degradation of the follicle wall, particularly during the rupture of pre-ovulatory follicles. Additionally, the expression of the PLAU gene is regulated by multiple signaling pathways, such as protein tyrosine kinase pp60v-src and protein kinase C, which show significant induction in Rous sarcoma virus (RSV)-transformed chicken cells.
