Target Information
Chicken Unconventional Myosin-Ia (MYO1A) is a key motor protein involved in various cellular processes, particularly in the brush border of intestinal epithelial cells. It is essential for maintaining the structural integrity and function of microvilli, which are critical for nutrient absorption. MYO1A interacts with the apical membrane through its C-terminal tail domain and facilitates the movement of the apical membrane along actin bundles, leading to the release of small vesicles from microvillar tips. This protein also plays a crucial role in membrane-cytoskeleton adhesion, providing stability to the microvillar structure. In chickens, MYO1A is highly expressed in the small intestine, where it supports efficient nutrient uptake and digestion. Abnormal expression or function of MYO1A can lead to disorders in intestinal function and nutrient absorption.
