Target Information
Chicken Transcription Factor SOX-2 (SOX2) is a critical transcription factor involved in the regulation of pluripotency and neural differentiation. It maintains the undifferentiated state of neural progenitor cells and promotes their differentiation into neurons and glial cells. SOX2 is also essential for early embryonic development, where it helps form pluripotent cells in the inner cell mass of the blastocyst. Additionally, SOX2 plays a role in somatic cell reprogramming, working with other factors like OCT4 and KLF4 to revert differentiated cells to a pluripotent state. Abnormal expression of SOX2 has been linked to various cancers.
