Target Information
Chicken Inner Centromere Protein (INCENP) is a key component of the chromosome passenger complex (CPC), essential for proper chromosome alignment, segregation, and cytokinesis during mitosis. INCENP acts as a scaffold protein, coordinating the assembly of the CPC by interacting with other components such as Survivin, Borealin, and Aurora B kinase. The interaction between INCENP and Aurora B is crucial for activating the Aurora B kinase, the catalytic subunit of the complex. Disruption of INCENP expression leads to dissociation of the CPC and impairs Aurora B kinase activity. In chickens, INCENP is highly expressed in mitotic cells and is involved in the regulation of cell division and tissue development.
