Target Information
Chicken Homeobox Protein Hox-A11 (HOXA11) is a transcription factor that plays a significant role in embryonic development, particularly in limb and skeletal development. It is part of the HOX gene family, which is crucial for providing cells with positional identity along the anterior-posterior axis. HOXA11 is involved in the regulation of skeletal morphogenesis and is essential for the proper development of the zeugopod region of the limbs (radius/ulna and tibia/fibula) . In chickens, HOXA11 is also implicated in the negative regulation of MyoD expression in limb muscle precursors, which is important for muscle development . Abnormal expression of HOXA11 has been associated with developmental disorders and diseases, including skeletal malformations and certain cancers .
