Target Information
Chicken Fibromodulin (FMOD) is a member of the small leucine-rich proteoglycan (SLRP) family and plays a crucial role in various biological processes. It is highly expressed in connective tissues such as cartilage, skin, and tendons, where it regulates collagen fibrillogenesis and tissue repair. FMOD interacts with collagen and lysyl oxidase to modulate collagen cross-linking and fibril architecture, which is essential for maintaining tissue integrity. In chickens, FMOD has been shown to be involved in skeletal muscle development and maintenance, where it regulates myoblast differentiation and muscle atrophy through the TGF-β signaling pathway. Additionally, FMOD is implicated in immune responses and inflammation, with its expression and activity being regulated by macrophage polarization and TGF-β signaling. Abnormal expression of FMOD has been associated with diseases such as arthritis and fibrotic disorders.
