Target Information
The CD40 molecule is encoded by the CD40 gene in dogs. As a co-stimulatory molecule in the tumor necrosis factor superfamily, it plays a critical role in the activation of dendritic cells. This type I transmembrane protein is located on antigen-presenting cells, where it is indispensable for their activation. When CD154 (CD40L) on T helper cells binds to CD40, it triggers the activation of antigen-presenting cells and initiates various downstream responses.
