Target Information
Canine Parainfluenza Virus (CPIV) is an enveloped, negative-sense, single-stranded RNA virus belonging to the Paramyxoviridae family. It serves as a major viral pathogen responsible for canine infectious respiratory disease complex (CIRDC), commonly known as kennel cough. The virus targets epithelial cells lining the upper respiratory tract. Crucial targets for diagnostic development and subunit vaccines include the hemagglutinin-neuraminidase (HN) glycoprotein, responsible for cell attachment, and the fusion (F) protein, which mediates viral cell entry.
