Target Information

The Nucleoprotein (NP) is the most abundant structural protein of CDV, essential for encapsidating the single-stranded negative-sense RNA genome. It forms a helical ribonucleoprotein (RNP) complex, protecting the viral RNA from host nucleases and serving as the template for transcription and replication by the viral polymerase. Due to its high conservation and strong immunogenicity, CDV NP is a primary target for diagnostic assays, including ELISA and lateral flow tests, and is frequently used to monitor infection in domestic dogs and wildlife.
