Target Information
Hemagglutinin (H) is the primary attachment protein on the CDV envelope, responsible for recognizing host cell receptors. It is a type II transmembrane protein that exists as a tetramer (a dimer of dimers) and binds specifically to SLAM (CD150) on immune cells and Nectin-4 on epithelial cells. This binding triggers a conformational change that activates the Fusion (F) protein to initiate membrane merging. As the least conserved CDV protein and the main target for neutralizing antibodies, H is a key determinant of host range and a critical antigen for vaccine development.
